A wee bit late with Sunday Sevens this week – but my excuse is we were away for the weekend and I wasn’t home on Sunday until 10pm. If you’re a regular reader, you’ll know I was whinging last week about being poorly last week, but flights were booked and paid for to visit Lovely Eldest in the Netherlands, so there was no not going!
No photos from the beginning of the week, as I didn’t leave the house. But on Thursday, Lovely Husband scooped me into the car, drove me to the airport and made sure I didn’t lose my passport or get on the wrong plane.
Lovely Eldest’s apartment isn’t big enough for us all, so we stayed at the Grand Karel V Hotel in Utrecht.
On Friday we went to Keukenhoff to have a leisurely stroll around the gardens. Keukenhoff is one of the world’s largest flower gardens, covering 79 acres. Apparently 7 million bulbs are planted there each year. It certainly felt like spring.
Back to the hotel for a nap then out again in the evening.
Saturday we visited the lake at Henschotermeer…
And the pretty town of Naarden, which is set inside a fort…
On Sunday we had a meander around Utrecht, before, all too soon, it was time to go home.
Despite being rather tired from not being 100%, I had a lovely time and, of course, kept my strength up with lots of lovely food.
(Sunday Sevens, devised by the wonderful Nat at Thread and Bobbins for bloggers to share photos of their personal week.)
Well thank goodness you didn’t miss out on that treat! What lovely gardens and sights you saw – hope it perked you up no end and you are 100% again.

What beautiful places to visit, Bekki. The Keukenhoff Gardens look quite stunning. I must get them onto my Places to Visit list. Glad you were feeling well enough to make it over there and enjoy some nice food again. Gorgeous photos – and perfect models, of course. 🙂

Sorry to hear you’re still suffering – but you’re right everyone seems to have something. Daughter, I’m afraid, has handed her notice in and is off on her travels again, so no more jaunts to the Netherlands to visit her 😦

Unfortunately the plan is NZ 😦 Mind that’s via south America. She certainly knows how to give me grey hairs.

Thank you. I do love the Netherlands. Such beautiful architecture too and of course windmills 🙂 First time we’ve visited in the spring – and of course they are famed for their bulbs.

Indeed, it is so very pretty there. I have not yet had the opportunity to visit, but my daughter and son in law had, and they loved it. They are planning to go again towards the end of the year. It is Winter then, but they dont mind. 🙂

I think it’s only really the bulbs you need spring for and there’s so much else to see, I’m sure they’ll have a fabulous time.

Oh yes, they visited before and can not wait to go again. They do love it very much. 🙂

It is so lovely – I was hoping it was lovely enough for eldest to decided to settle down there. Not for my holidays there, but because now she’ll head off much further afield.

Thank you. I’m usually playing catch up too,. By the time I’ve usually replied to everyone who comments on my posts, I’ve something else to whizz off to and my reading gets left behind.
