Time for another Sunday Sevens – the brainchild of the wonderful Nat at Thread and Bobbins devised for bloggers to share seven photos of their personal week.
- I’ve had a busy week trying to get on top of the every day stuff. However living on Dartmoor means that even the everyday can be amazing. On Wednesday Mr Hicks and I took a new path on the moor and found not one, but three stone circles we’d never seen before.
2. But Mr Hick’s favourite was a puddle beside a row of stones…
3. After a busy ordinary week, Friday included cake craft afternoon….
4. …then a trip up country which took way too long due to traffic at Glastonbury and cones for miles and miles on the M1 with nothing going on behind them…
5. The upside of being stuck in the car, is getting lots of knitting done. I started two new projects this weekend, but can’t show you much of either as they’re both secret…
6. On Saturday we went to an amazing BBQ, but was having so much fun, I only managed to take a pic of Lovely Husband.
7. The week was topped off by Lovely, and rather pregnant, niece popping in to see us on Sunday at the in laws before we headed home again.
Just back home and can’t believe we’re at the start of another week again! Have a good one.
Exciting to discover some stone circles! Sorry you got stuck in all that traffic…but yay for the knitting. :))

It’s interesting how many there are so close together – and they’re just the ones we can still see. I wonder how may were built originally?

Hello Bekki. What a nice week. I cannot get over that you just ‘find’ stone circles arranged here and there. Fascinating! Is it known who arranged them and for what purpose? Mr. Hicks sure loves the water, doesn’t he! Lol, whether it is a puddle or a creek, he jumps right in. Have a great week. The weekend just flew by for me. Xo

Hi Karina. We are very very lucky that we live on Dartmoor so we can just trip over these things. There are theories about what they were for, but I don’t know how much evidence these are really based on. I know we find more and more under the land as technology improves. You have a great week too xx

How I miss the traffic jams 😉
As you have assured me before that you do not knit and drive, how does LH keep calm while you are performing knitting yoga? I know my particular LH never did.

Ha ha! Yes we miss them too down here – as long as we keep off the A30 for the six weeks in the summer holidays. So our own fault for straying up country.
The trick with lovely husband is to ensure you tell him how to drive at regular intervals. That way, you find him saying ‘never mind my driving, just focus on your knitting’ and being awful glad your knitting stops you nagging and not jealous when I’m having more fun in traffic jams than he is.

We are indeed very lucky to have so much beauty as well as so much if our past preserved around us.

How exciting to happen upon stone circles by chance. I assume they’re ancient ones? Is that bakewell tart? One of my favourites, yum! I’m glad I’m not the only one who starts two knitting projects at the same time….

Yes, they are – I’m sure we could get ourselves some sort of map to tell us where they are, but what the fun be in that? And yes again, Bakewell tart. I do like to have a few knitting projects on the go at a time. Are you like that with sewing too?

Interesting to see the stone circles, my son has been learning about them at school and told me there are lots!
That chocolate cake looks gorgeous!
