Sunday Sevens – 28th August

Time for another Sunday Sevens – the brainchild of Nat at Thread and Bobbins. Although I may have posted a few more than seven photos this week.

This week there’s been two celebrations in our house. Firstly my birthday, which started off with a yummy birthday breakfast…

Then cards and presents…

Followed by a dog walk…

Then a birthday bike ride….

After sprucing ourselves up, we headed to the Hotel Endsleigh and a wander around their beautiful grounds…

…. before afternoon tea…

Sorry, ate all the cake before I remembered to take a picture.

Found this dog in the library. Lower maintenance than my boy, but not as cuddly..

After a couple of bottles of sparkly stuff and a huge tea, we weren’t good for much else but chilling out back home and finding a little more room for birthday cake.

IMG_0025 Our other celebration was the anniversary of adopting Mr Hicks from Battersea – who came to live with us the day after my birthday twelve years ago. Whilst I say celebration, this was more of a low key affair of having an normal day with my boy and a visit from my lovely next door neighbour – who brought fondant fancies, just in case I hadn’t eaten enough cake the day before. Here’s the left overs, along with my left over birthday cake…

I would have bought Mr Hicks a present, but he’d already had two new bears in the last two weeks.  The second, because I thought the first had ended up on the bonfire, but it turned up after I’d bought the second…

I’m also delighted to tell you that Mr Hicks has recovered from all his infections and is now off all his antibiotics 🙂

Two other events of note this week….

The extractor was finally fitted over the aga! Just need to put the pictures back up on the wall now…

And Friday this week was craft afternoon with more yummy cake, just in case I hadn’t had enough this week already…

Hope you’ve had a great week.

  1. So I’m guessing the diet has been abandoned? :;-D Happy belated birthday – and so glad to hear Mr Hicks is well again. His toys look like Siddy’s – I feel like I run a permanent soft toy emergency department here, sewing ’em back up and sending them out again …….

    1. Not quite abandoned, more on the back burner – or so I like to tell myself. I confess, I usually just leave them oozing fluff – Hicks has some stuffingless ones that seem to work better than stuffed, but these bears are Kong ones – do you have that brand – so supposedly more tough. The bears have a rope through them and do seem to stand up well so far – although, as you’ve observed Mr Hicks has been performing some brain surgery. Thanks for the birthday wishes 🙂

    1. Thank you. I’m sure all that cake is a result of your bad influence 😉 Hicks does love his toys, even though he also loves to shred them. Hopefully these boys will last a bit longer than they usually do. I’m referring to them as the twins 🙂

  2. Happy belated birthday! All of those cakes look so yummy 😀 I’m glad to hear Mr. Hicks is feeling better and happy gotcha day for Mr. Hicks. I’m very lucky that I don’t have to sew up my Tinkerbell’s toys very often. She mostly grabs them by the neck and shakes like crazy to “kill” them when she gets excited.

  3. Best (belated) wishes to you and Mr H both, for a very Happy Birthday. Yes, cake is always good, one can never have enough, and tomorrow is always a good day to have again.
Such a beautiful place to spend the day, just gorgeous.
I am so happy to hear about Mr. H and that his health is so well on track again. Awesome. 🙂
Take care, and enjoy what is left of this week.
