Sunday Sevens – 13th November

Joining in again this week with Sunday Sevens – the brainchild of Nathalie at Thread and Bobbins. Although Nat really seems to have gone to ground. I hope all is well with her.

Last Sunday was the second day of Stitch Fest South West, were I had a stall. Had a really great time there – will write a post about it in the week.

Monday, I was on a high from Stitch Fest, but totally shattered after an unbelievably exhausting week the week before, and all the nervousness, sleeplessness and excitement of the weekend. Beyond food shopping and Tai Chi, I have no idea what else happened that day.

Tuesday I caught up with all the bits and bobs that needed following up from the weekend and dropped a sheep kit order off at my new stockist – need to write another post to catch up about them!

Wednesday was back to the laptop working on the sales website… and on Thursday. By late Thursday evening everything was up on the site, lovely littlest had checked through for mistakes and I was ready to add my payment gateway. Being no IT whizz, I opted for the one integrated with the site. To my horror, having made my application, I received an email saying it would take 24 hours – 7 days to approve. Shattered I went to bed hoping for 24hrs.

Late the Friday morning I was a approved. Hurrah! I thought, until I spotted that one last check – a bank statement was needed. Unfortunately my bank – probably all banks – can only send the type needed in the post! So right now I’m crossing my fingers that it’ll be here Monday!

Apart from Monday and Tuesdays outings, I didn’t go anywhere else this week, except on lots of lovely walks with Mr Hicks. Weather wise they’ve been a real mixture. Wednesday we woke up to this beautiful sky…

… and had a lovely sunny, but chilly walk on the Granite Way….

… but on Friday I couldn’t even see the tors through the mist.

However, as  always, we live in such a beautiful part of the world, it was a pleasure to be out whatever the weather. Here we are enjoying a gorgeous carpet of fallen leaves…

And this is Saturday when we had a wander around Lydford Gorge…

… to the White Lady waterfall – the highest waterfall in South West England…

… and finally Sunday Sevens wouldn’t be Sunday Sevens for me without a dog in a puddle pic….

Hope you’ve had a good one.

  1. It sounds like a royal pain to set up a sales website – I hope it is all resolved soon.
Lovely to see Mr. Hicks out and about as usual blissfully unaware of his troubles which is one advantage animals certainly have over us!
When my husband just glanced over at the computer screen he thought the kit was a model of Mr. Hicks – but then he hasn’t got his glasses on! Not a bad idea though!

    1. Ha ha! Lovely eldest bought me a knit your own golden retriever kit a few years ago. I think the sheep looks more like Mr Hicks than the ‘dog’ I knitted from that kit! If I ever do a post on knitting fails I’ll show you. Yep, don’t believe those banners on ecommerce sites that say you can have your site up in 15 mins. I’m sure you can, but it would be total nonsense. Have been thinking of you this morning and your bite on hols this year. I got stung on the face yesterday. Thought I’d got away with it last night but have been puffing up all morning. Hardly have an right eye visible now 😦

      1. Ooer! Do you know what stung you?
I’ve seen some really cool knitting patterns for dogs – whippets most often actually! – but I know I am absolutely pants at making toys or figures. Something happens at the stuffing stage and I go all to pieces and make monsters.
I hope your eye is back in action soon – you will need it to see all the orders that come flooding in 🙂

      2. Oh yes, stuffing is definitely and art form. I did bookmark a post about how to stuff well, but since my laptop broke, I guess I’ve lost that too 😦 Ha ha! No worries, I can see order with one eye – be lovely if they do flood in.

    1. Thank you. I’m excited ad scared in equal measures. Do you know that’s such a beautiful walk, right on our doorstep and just right for Hicks now he’s older and yet we forgot about it and haven’t been there for months!

  2. A similar sort of sunny one day, misty the next, week here – fortunately I have a dog who HATES puddles and any sort of getting wet. Good to see Mr Hicks out and enjoying himself.

Good luck with the website – I wouldn’t know where to start!

    1. Thank you. I don’t think there’s a day goes by when we don’t get the hose pipe out to clean Mr Hicks, despite his grand old age. After all these years, I’ve got so used to it, I think there’s something wrong if I don’t. Mind, I wouldn’t complain if I had a dog like yours 🙂

  3. Wow, you have been extremely busy. I love the sheep kit, it is adorable.
I could also spend hours outside on such a beautiful carpet of leaves. The colours are just amazing. Glad to see you had enough sunshine to make for lovely walks, that Mr. H obviously enjoyed just as much.
Hugs to you all and take care. xx

    1. Yep! Hurrah for muddy puddles. So glad you like the sheep. Yes, of course, I’ll make sure there’s one there for you chosen my Mr Hicks. Although bank statement not arrived in post yet, I went on my account this afternoon – an in frustration tried again and got it to allow me to print a statement that appears to have all the right info – which it wouldn’t last week. I’ve scanned an emailed it, so fingers crossed the site might be live tomorrow once they’ve seen it.

  4. Good to see Hicks blatantly having the time of his life still! Hubby is currently having huge time problems IT wise setting up his business bank account – why it has to take four weeks to set up a new account is beyond me. Good luck with it all!

    1. Sorry to hear about hubby’s bank account. I just feel like sending an email to mine saying, ‘Do you really think I’m a money launderer?’ Oh yes Mr Hicks still knows how to have a party. Thanks for the good luck wishes.

      1. It took two weeks to get an appointment to see someone at the bank, then another two weeks to get an ID number to set up online banking – only to find that they put invalid characters in the automatically generated number and guess what? It will be another two weeks before he’ll get another one!! What a way to run a bank!
