YAY! I’m UFO Free!

One of the great things about blogging is that once I’ve promised to do something on my blog, I find it much harder to hide from doing it. I’ve no doubt that if I kept quiet and didn’t mention it again, you guys would forget I ever made the promise, but still making that promise in open forum makes it so much more compelling. After all a promise is a promise.

The week before last, I set a goal to finish off my UFOs and to have a UFO free year. Fortunately I’ve been pretty good of late and it turned out there was only a pair of socks lurking at the bottom of my knitting basket. (Having said that , I think they’ve been there nearly a year.) One sock was waiting for the toe to be Kitchener stitched together, the other was short of a heel.

Last week I Kitchener stitched the toes together

… and last night I turned the heel, and Kitchener stitched it closed, and I now have a pair of socks…

So I’m delighted to tell you I’l officially UFO free. Now all I need to do for the rest of the year is keep it that way!

    1. Sounds like it might be better frogged. I confess I have a quilted block I’ve been intending to make into a cushion for the last three years – but that doesn’t count, because this blog isn’t about sewing 🙂

  1. Wow! How does this feel?
    I started knitting at the age of 4 (I guess, can’t remember) and I think I haven’t been UFO-free since I was 10 O.O

    Don’t you miss your UFO-basket?

    1. It feel great 🙂 I’ve been knitting since about that age too, but when i was young I never had more than one piece of work on the go, so no UFO pile until I was long married. And given the UFO basket is really the bottom of the WIP basket, I’m not really missing it 🙂

  2. Good heavens. Well do ne you. But I have to say I don’t think you have been trying very hard to create UFOs. I have them from at least 20 years back, now that’s UFOs. Good luck with not creaating new ones.

  3. Yay go you. I’m heading that way for knitting. I’m getting my nan to frog one of my old projects, then I have one ufo passed on to me from my nan that is now residing at eds house so I don’t have to lug knitting up there. I just have to seam up one jumper and add afterthought heels in my traveling socks both of which are ongoing projects 🙂
