Last week Shelia who blogs as Sewchet wrote a post about a dog coat she knitted for one of her dogs that didn’t fit it. The photos she posted of Fifi, her very unimpressed dog, didn’t just make me smile, but reminded me of the time about four years ago when I knitted some coats for homeless dogs and took photos of Mr Hicks modelling one. Knowing Hicks has a few fans out there, I thought I’d pop theΒ pics on a quick post Β and share them with you under the guise of showing you one of my old finished objects…
Apologies for the quality – I presume it’s the age of the phone they were taken on.
He’s not looking too impressed!!

Bless him! A lovely royal blue – it suits him. He doesn’t look as if he’s really ‘feeling it’ though does he? Some dogs love wearing coats, others don’t. One of my dog gets quite distressed if I take off his collar and looks all ashamed as if he feels naked π

He certainly doesn’t. I would say, unlike your dog, he’s definitely in the ‘naturist’ camp, but he’s posed quite happily looking like Clint Eastwood when my daughters were younger and adorned him with the odd blanket π

I love dogs in sweaters. I’ve knit my chihuahua pub mix, Cher, a couple of sweaters and she doesn’t want you to take them off of her. We adopted a little 5 pound Chihuahua, Jellybean, last year but she’s so small I have yet to scale down a pattern to fit her. It’s on my to do list π

Well, while he certainly looks less than impressed, he does look very handsome in blue! That is a seriously big dog coat Bekki. Well done!! π

Thank you. It is his colour, he just doesn’t appreciate it and it’s nowhere near as good as Golden Retriever fur. Can’t imagine your Siddy being happy in a coat either?

Siddy was gifted a dashing red tartan number by one of his doting ‘aunts’ last winter. He wore it grudgingly a couple of times for photo ops and then we both called it quits π

Lol. I dont think Mr. H is the “sweater type” he does not look to impressed. Must be thinking of the puddles he will not be able to visit and explore while wearing a sweater. π
Lovely sweaters, and very lucky dogs that got to wear them.

Thank you. Can you imagine if he did take it in the puddles!

Lol. I can just imagine. He would not be to worried though. π

I think he’d be very pleased π Met a red setter yesterday on a lead and in a full ‘raincoat’ – it even had little legs on the coat. The guy said it was because it was at crufts at the weekend. Poor thing, I bet it would have been happier being allowed to be a real dog.

Poor thing. I dont think they mind getting to wet. Even Miekie goes out in the rain, and comes in all wet. She just needs to be toweled dry and she will settle down and dry again. She only wears a sweater in winter now that she is getting a bit older. Before she never liked it.

I do hear some people say their dogs don’t like the rain, but I do wonder if the owners have unconsciously ‘trained’ them into it, but not taking them out in the rain or on not so good walks? Aw! Bless Miekie, she’s a lot less fur than Mr Hicks to keep her warm.

I guess some dogs do not enjoy the rain, and probably because they have gotten used to not being in the rain. Miekie dont mind rain or walks, in my neighborhood, with is lovely and quiet with lots of big trees, or even in the city centre, where my daughter and son in law stays, with all the bustle of the city. She enjoyes the outings all the time. π

Oh bless him. Misery in every pose. Lovely piece of knitting but save it for those who appreciate it. I am sure Mr Hicks loves you dearly! Personally I would have liked to see it road tested in full!

Ha ha! We could have hardly given it to the homeless dogs after HRH had road tested it! π
