Sunday Sevens – May 28th

Joining in again this week with Sunday Sevens, which was started by Nathalie at Threads and Bobbins.

Last weekend Lovely Husband headed north to help his parents move house. Mr Hicks is getting to old to travel so far, so we stayed at home. With the house to myself, I covered ever available surface with brown bags and knitting kit production went into full swing for the summer season…

On Monday, summer itself arrived and it was finally warm enough to have a BBQ without your coat on…

With the warmer weather, Mr Hicks took to his favourite cool spot just outside the back door…

Walks, of course, were punctuated by lots of dipping in puddles and rivers to keep cool…20170524_113223On Wednesday we saw hundred of these beetles taking off from the grass in the park…

These also caught my eye – any of you clever lot know what they are?

On the way back we couldn’t resist dropping into the garden of theΒ Bearslake Inn for lunch…

And with good weather holding we made the most of it by cycling there again for lunch on Friday..

The week was rounded off brilliantly at a joint birthday party for two of our friends in the village. Here I am with Lovely Husband and two of my lovely neighbours…20170527214314

Hope you’ve had a great week.

  1. Lovely pics. Those thatched cottages look gorgeous. The flower is an allium ( or something like that) , they remind me of pom poms. Glad Hicks is finding the cool spots. Lots fresher today up north but has been hot hot.x

    1. Thank you. So glad you like the cottage πŸ™‚ Hicks only took to that spot last year, but he’s practically been living on it since it got warm this year. Thanks for the horticultural insight – yes, definitely like pompoms πŸ™‚

  2. Good morning Bekki

Great Sunday sevens, the flower is an Allium, it’s part of the onion family and comes in small to large and I think also in white. It’s a bulb so I think it’s probably best to plant it in the autumn, we’re going to plant some this year as we saw a wonderful display of them at Rosemoor a couple of weeks ago. Xx

  3. No need for me to pass on that the flower is an alium – part of the onion family. The way you can tell is that the flower grows on a leafless stalk. I do love your DYC cottage/door-stop ❀ Alarmingly something terrible appears to have happened to Lovely Husband, while you look like bike riding has made you 10 years younger, he appears to have crossed species……… πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you. So glad you like like the cottage. And especially pleased you think I look ten years younger. Cross-species husband said he though I was the stripper in that hat πŸ™‚

  4. Wow, you sure are busy. I love these kits, really adorable.
Great to see summer finally arrived. We finally have single digit temps, lovely and cold and perfect for winter. I just love it.
Great to see Mr Hicks enjoying the summer, and you all able to get out and about. It is really green and stunning, and so very peaceful. Please enjoy some quiet time for me there too, I think I would absolutely love it sitting there and just taking it all in.
Have a great week and enjoy!! xx

    1. Thank you. Mr Hicks is very up and down these days, but despite the heat last week was super bouncy πŸ™‚ Great to hear you’ve got some cooler weather. Yep, can certainly have a bit of relaxation on you behalf. You have a lovely week too xx

  5. My dog’s favourite summer spot was just outside the back door, he loved being outside so he could watch the world and could still see me in the kitchen, just like a toddler! Mr Hicks loooks beyond happy in the river this week. I think he would really love you to have a river by the back door! Enjoy the bank holiday.xx

    1. They certainly are like kids. Mr Hicks can’t see me from there as that looks into the diner part of the kitchen diner. But since we always exit and enter the house through the back door, he knows I can’t go far without him if he lays there πŸ™‚ Hope you’re enjoying you bank holiday xx

  6. I love the little cottage. I’m going to put the kit on my birthday wish list – although I have to tell you that a list is generally requested and then wilfully ignored :/
I hope you and LH haven’t upset the local constabulary with your outfits.

    1. Thank you. My lists get treated like that too 😦

Ha ha! Haven’t upset the local constabulary, but lovely husband though I looked like I was the stripper, so I’m sure the local strippers are quaking in their thigh length boots at the competition. BTW it was only a one of those mad photo booth shots where you keep changing outfits – any supposed coordination between our outfits is genuinely coincidental.
