Sunday Sevens – 13th August

Joining in again this week with Sunday Sevens – started by Nathalie at Threads and Bobbins – sharing seven (or so) pictures of  the week beyond the blog.

Last Sunday we had a run out to Boscastle. The Ryeland sheep who have been letting me use their wool moved there earlier in the year.  So we went to pick up their fleeces from their new home.

Since we at the seaside, we headed to Widemouth Bay for a walk on the beach.

Back to the working week and I dyed some roving – having sold all I had a couple of weeks ago.

Unfortunately it’s been yet another damp week, so it spent the evenings drying by the fire…

All the rain though meant Mr Hicks had plenty of puddles to paddle in…

He also went on his first sten do (combined stag and hen do) for our next door neighbours who are getting married in a few weeks time. It started with a dog walk, then  a pub lunch, then back to our local for a few more drinks, then out for a meal in the evening…

While we had lunch we spotted a thatched house with a lot of plants growing out of it. We thought this was probably not good…

And finally, if you read regularly, you’ll know I like spotting interesting car registrations. This week, we found ourselves behind this one…

Hope you’ve had a great week

  1. Hopefully we will have better weather this week. This morning is certainly making it look like this might be the cast.

  2. Your roving colours are gorgeous. Brilliant and cheerful. 🙂 I love them.
Hugs to Mr. H, he sure is enjoying the puddles.
Enjoy the coming week and I am keeping my fingers crossed for good weather your side. We are expecting a bit of winter cold for a change, and I am looking forward to the chilly weather, our winter had been pretty pleasant. 🙂

    1. Takes more than rain to stop HRH. I understand some dogs don’t like to go out in the rain, but most days I’m secretly pleased he’ not one of them.
I’ll have the fleeces spun commercially for my kits.

      1. You are too cute, calling him HRH!!! Though he surely is worthy. 😉

I love that you are able to get the fleeces spun up, and that you know the sheep your yarn comes from. When I ever come to England, I am buying some!!!

    1. I did think we looked rather alike when I looked at that photo. We don’t usually – there’s also about a foot different in height between us! So sadly no, not my twin – although she actually does have a twin sister. I wish she was my twin, she’s my friend and next door but one neighbour and she’s absolutely lovely 🙂
Hope you’re having a good weekend here. Despite the weather.

  3. Pretty colours on that airer! Love the idea of a STEN do. Hubby and I had one before we got married – I think he was slightly nervous of agreeing to a stag do and ending up tied naked to a lampost somewhere without means to find his way home! We had a fun party in a pub function room, friends from both sides.

  4. A ‘Sten’ do? Whatever next! Can you tell I’m a bit of a traditionalist, lol? I read your comment on another blog (Pauline’s?) about Hicks and his growing tumour. I’m so sorry to hear such sad news. We’re taking each day as it comes ourselves with Fifi and were pleasantly surprised she was still here when we got back from France. Dogs, eh? They steal our hearts and rip them apart……and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Xx

    1. Hello. Thank you. Yes, I realised you were in a similar place with Fifi and often think of you and her, even when you’re not mentioning her. In fact, especially when you’re not mentioning her.

Hicks tumour had been sitting quietly doing nothing, but when we went to the vets with a hot spot on Monday last week, found it has started growing quickly. As I said to Pauline, I don’t really want to publicise it on my blog as know everyone will be lovely, but I still find that exhausting. So please don’t mention in replies to my more current posts. Hugs to Fifi xx
