Joining in again this week with Sunday Sevens – started by Nathalie at Threads and Bobbins – sharing seven (or so) pictures of the week beyond the blog.
Last Sunday was a complete contrast to the snowy Sunday before. The sun shone and I got out in the garden to work on a much neglected patch of weeds flower bed.

It was good to see the daffodils that had bloomed before it snowed had survived the blizzard…
The primroses were still happy too…
… and, it was so nice on Sunday, we had our lunch in the garden…
Monday wasn’t such a good day, not just because it was raining, but because the accelerator pedal in my car fell apart. It seemed an unusual thing to happen – has anyone else ever had this? I can only think hubby has extra heavy feet.

Tuesday was cloudy, but dry. With the weather forecast to be wet for the rest of the week, we made the most of it and took a trip to Mawgan Porth beach…
… followed by lunch at the Catch cafe…
On Wednesday we had the best sort of house guest when Fergus, from next door, came to stay for most of the day, while his owner was having an operation.
We really are on a roll with the pub quiz this year. We won again on Wednesday. That’s four times this year!
On Saturday we visited the Easter art exhibition in our village hall. Almost all the exhibitors live in the village – it’s amazing to have so many talented people in such a small community. If you’re local, it’s on until Monday, so go take a look! There really is some wonderful work.
This week I also finished reading The Help. I’d had it by my bedside meaning to read it for years, when some of you guys prompted me to get it out and get started. Thank you very much to those of you who did. I loved it! Great characters, great humour and not a single paragraph that didn’t keep my attention. If I have got a criticism, it’s that the end/consequences feel too rose tinted and not realistic – but I’m not complaining, I love a happy ending.
Hope you’ve had a great week!
Thanks for dropping by.
Bekki
I enjoyed the film The Help but haven’t read the book yet. Nice to have Fergus around and well done on yet another Quiz win. X

What a difference a week can make! I’m amazed by how the daffs and primroses held their own against that prolonged cold spell. I’ve seen other UK blogs featuring these hardy survivors too. I’m thrilled you are now winning the pub quizzes regularly – someone’s been eating their veges 🙂
I have never heard of an accelerator falling apart. But one has to ask, how come its lovely husband’s fault when it’s your car? Hope you have another good weather week Bekki – try not to have anything else fall apart – or off – from your car.

Thank you. I’m so impressed the daffs are still standing – they usually droop with the least bit of snow or frost.
Hubby has been regularly stealing my car over the last year and it always gets used by him for skip trips – so I’m sure it’s him 🙂

A nice week, except for the car. 😖 looks like good food but a lack of cake, you are behaving so well! Impressive!
I am glad you liked the Help! Yes, it wrapped up nicely, but that was OK with me, it’s fiction, after all. Now if you see the movie, tell me what you think of the casting. 😉
Have a fun week. And watch for a picture of my primrose sometime this week. Maybe today…

Thank you. Yep the wasn’t too bad a as a problem, since I did get it to the garage under my own steam, but the pedal was far more expensive than we thought it would be.
Will keep and eye out for the film of the Help.
Look forward to seeing your primrose.

Well done with the quiz but is that the same bottle of wine you keep winning?
I enjoyed The Help too, both book and film. I’m always amazed this sort of thing went on so relatively recently in the U.S.

Ha ha! No. It is the same photo as last time – I took a fresh one, but it didn’t come out, so I had to recycle, since next door took the new bottle to their house for next time we get together. (Well the half of next door that wasn’t in the hospital recovering from the op.)
You’re right, very scary how recent it was and how much race hate there still appears to be in parts of the US.

Lovely to see signs of spring in your garden! even if it does herald a little hard work! I love visiting local exhibitions too, we do the Art Trail most years and I am amazed at how talented people are.
I hope the car pedal is now fixed! Have a lovely week, Bekki

Ha ha, I’m tempted to say it’s the size 9s taking their toll on the accelerator pedal, but I’m not too far away to feel the kick at a comment like that! Lunch in the garden, eh? We were, this time last year, but it hasn’t been anything like warm enough yet this year. You’ll need to start coming second in the quiz, or no one will turn up soon:)

Very wise not to mention the feet, as discussed before they are the bane of my life! Sunny all day tomorrow apparently – so get out in that garden! Ok, promise to lose tonight.

Your flowers and garden is lovely. Lots of pretty green shades there.
I had the same issue with my previous car, apparently something to do with a cable. The new car does not have the same issues. 🙂
Great job on the pub quiz, you are excellent. Good practice I think.
Hope you had a fabulous Easter. Enjoy the warmer days and I trust less snow by now. 🙂

Thank you. Sorry to hear about your past car troubles – glad they’re solved now. Mine was nothing to do with the cable – the plastic bit you put your foot on just fell apart!

Thanks. I loved the car, maybe to much. Eventually I had to change and upgrade. The new one is super nice and very cute.
Sorry to hear about the pedal, that is probably never supposed to even happen. Just happy it can be fixed and you are able to get around again. 🙂
