Frog or Finish Update

A month ago I posted 9 UFOs that had been untouched for quite some time and vowed to finish or frog them this year.

I’m pleased to say I’ve made inroads into several of these projects…

  1. The top of the patchwork quilt is now finished, sandwiched and I’m about 2/3 way through stitching in the ditch on it.

2 and 3.  I’ve frogged the cream crochet top and the knitted shawl.

4, 5 and 6. I haven’t touched the bags, the cardigan or the crochet shawl.

7. I’ve finished the Christmas Pudding Santa Sack

8. I’ve done a few rows on one of the socks. However sadly I’ve discovered that while I’ve been ignoring them a mouse has nibble one of the toes! So I now have some darning to do too.

9. And finally – even I can’t believe it – I’ve finally frogged that scarf…

All in all I’m pretty pleased with my progress. Even though my frogs/finish haven’t needed a lot of work, I wasn’t at all enthusiastic about sorting them out, but I’ve completely dealt with 4 out of 9 and worked on 2 others. Hopefully the next month will bring equally pleasing results.

Until next time,

Bekki x

  1. Well done you!! It’s a pain having to undo wip’s, but preferable to do that than wait until they are all sewn up with buttons and everything and then decide you were right in the first place …….. I’m trying to revert to my old discipline of one project at a time, at least then the project gets finished, even if it’s just so I can get on with the next one 🙂 Good luck with the rest of your finishing – you might need to invest in a mousetrap – or a cat….

    1. You’re right, focusing on one project at a time gets them finished and I’m definitely trying to get all the UFOs out the way, so I can focus on one project at a time – or rather one patchwork, one sewing, one cross stitch/embroidery and 2/3 knitting projects at a time!
You know what mice are like, they’ll appear whatever and wherever you live. Can’t have a cat because Hubby is allergic.

      1. So true! I am great at advising people to rip but it takes guts to make that leap myself! Just been reminded on another blog that each knitted stitch is a journey and you learn something on the way so if you knit then need to frog don’t count it as a failure!

  2. Congratulations on dealing with the UFOs. I am trying very hard this year to work on projects I have either started or just have waiting to go. Even the beginners quilt is made from fat quarters I already have. But my next quilt will be from a new jelly roll as I have never bought one before.
I am looking forward to seeing your quilt, it is so pretty.

  3. Awesome. The frogged items will become something pretty, I just know, as soon as you see the right new pattern. I love the shawl, and I think it is nearly finished, 🙂 so I will keep my eye on that one.
Great job on the quilt, you are making the very best of that one. It is going to be a favourite soon.
Colder or wetter weather there, so take care.

    1. That or they’ll live happily in my stash forever 😉 the shawl is finished, it actually just needs blocking, but I’m waiting for some good weather so i don’t fill the house with damp. Should have done it when we had the good patch in Feb, but forgot all about it.
I’m really please with how the quilt’s going – nearly finished the ditches!
You take good care too xx

      1. Your quilt is coming so well now, I love it. 🙂 And well done on the shawl. Indeed, warmer weather makes it so much easier. You just take care first and let this chilly weather pass. 🙂

  4. I’d save it if I were you – it will mean you don’t have to make something else that won’t be ready in time. 🤣
Anyway, was there a knitting/sewing Santa last year? If so I must have been blackballed. Unless you’re talking about a different one.

  5. I think that’s where the smart money is.
Don’t panic, I’m talking about my knitting group Santa. As you know i wasn’t blogging from April until Jan, but assume Shelia didn’t do it – that or you’ve really upset her.
