Most of my free time last week was spent gardening…
Harry decided to help with the digging…
In other garden news, our rabbit population is now up to seven…
The weather has been glorious, making dog walks even more enjoyable…
… and sitting in the sunshine with friends a must…
The sunshine has brought the buttercups out in force on Fernworthy Moor…
The hanging baskets are also in full bloom outside the Woolly Beader in Okehampton
We’ve both been on a winning streak this week. I won a box of Ferrero Rocher in a raffle and LH won a bottle of wine at golf…
We had a visit from our friends from Scotland. Their dog, Basil, is a rescue who has struggled with other dogs in the past. Basil and Hicks were always good friends, but I was a little worried about his first meeting with Harry – Harry loves everyone, but is entire, so some males dogs can be a bit with him. Basil is also 14, so I thought Harry might be too bouncy.
But nothing to worry about. The only problem was that Basil didn’t have enough energy to keep up…
On Saturday morning Basil was also very helpful in encouraging Harry to get over his fear of mud…
But on Saturday afternoon, when our visitors has gone, Harry’s friend Morgan have him a proper demo of what to do with a muddy puddle…

That’s lovely that Basil and Harry get along so well. And Morgan , wow! Hugo doesn’t really wallow in mud but our old Labrador, Jake was definitely a mud wallower. 🙂

Sometimes I’m really glad that I have a prissy little dog who carefully sidesteps puddles (unless he’s doing ‘running fast’ and then they are just part of the joy) Love the hanging basket and the field of buttercups……..

Mud was such a given with Hicks I really don’t mind how muddy Harry gets, but it is nice not to have to hose him down after every walk.

I have noticed that, in almost every Sunday Sevens, you mention that Harry is ‘entire’. I have only ever had one entire dog and that was because he was never a leg hugger nor interested in other dogs , male or female, so I let him be. Then, one year, he took a fancy to a lady dog in heat up the road and howled and howled for a couple of weeks like a lovelorn fool. He got over it but did like to suck the ears of other dogs if the mood took him.
I don’t know whether you noticed but somebody had already started on your raffle prize 😉

I love a field full of buttercups, the hanging basket made me smile, and good to see Harry learning the joys of a mud bath!

I’ve always fancied making a knitted hanging basket – something much more intricate than those. But I’d probably forget to take it in on wet days 🙂

What a lovely week to be spending outdoors. So much sunshine, greenery, walks, dogs, and peace and quiet with good friends. Harry is just to precious, and such a loving and friendly pupstar to have around. He looks cute with the muddy legs.
I like the crochet flowers idea. Cheerful and colourful for a spring feeling all year round too. 🙂

It really was, the weather and the scenery were stunning.
The great thing about golden retrievers is the blond fur does make them look as if they’re wearing stocking when they get muddy legs – never fails to make me smile.
The more I think about that hanging basket, the more I’m revisiting the idea I had years ago for one.
