I started this a while back thinking it would be a a nice quick project. It’s the first stumpwork embroidery I’ve done, but that’s no excuse for being so slow. I was slow because I got distracted by other projects. But finally I’ve finished….
The pattern is from Sachiko Morimoto’s book Stumpwork Flowers. There’s quite a few pretty flowers in this book, so I’ll probably be having a go at a few more.
Until next time,

What an ugly name for something so pretty. I can’t even manage flat embroidery so am in awe.

Don’t be awed, it’s not that hard. There is a reason it’s called stumpwork, but I can’t remember it!

Oh my that is pretty, and stumpwork is not easy I know.

And I don’t even know what ‘stumpwork’ embroidery is – but that sure is pretty!

Hello. Good to see you visiting. Have missed you. Hope all is okay.
Thank you. It basically means 3D embroidery – some of it’s only a little raised from the canvas, while other bits stick out quite a lot – although I’m sure there’s far more eloquent ways to describe it than that 🙂

I just took a wee unscheduled break from almost all computer time – I found so many more hours in my day 🙂 But I’m back now and might even make a post one day soon…..
All is well, thank you for asking. Thanks for the explanation – now I understand what it is but have never heard it called that before.

Well done you. A computer break is good and not easy to orchestrate. Glad all is well.
Maybe Stumpwork is a UK term?
Look forward to your post. xx
