For this month’s Scrap Happy post I thought I’d show you Lovely Husband’s first Lock Down project…
With his working hours cut, and therefore a longer Easter weekend than expected, he decided to make a small greenhouse in the good sunny spot in front of the stables.
He made it from scrap bits of wood and an old piece of polythene sheeting.
It even has a pop up roof…
What more could a girl want for Easter?
If you like the idea of using your scraps, click on Kate or Gun (first two names in the list below) and join us on the 15th of every month – or just those months you feel like joining in. Here’s a list of both frequent and occasional Scraphappiers (?) if you want to see what everybody else is doing.

It has to be said – there are times when husbands are a jolly good thing to have at home!

After my initial disappointment at not seeing a husband made out of scraps of fabric or knitted up from leftover balls of wool, I was pleased to see LH joining in with the Scraphappy spirit and making you an Easter gift more useful than chocolate, although you hopefully got some of that as well.

Funny you should say that., I found a book they other day called amigarume that guides you through the process of crocheting effigies of your loved ones. So you make see a Scrappy Husband yet.

The man’s a genius. Mr E has been telling me how many £100s he will need to spend on a greenhouse in the new home- now I shall refer him here to LH’s creation. Enjoy.

Not sure I should tell him that – Might go to his head. I’d offer MR E the blueprints, but I doubt there are any.
We do actually have a real greenhouse we were given last year, but we need a concrete base to put it on and the logistics of borrowing a friends trailer to transport another friend’s cement mixer to our garden is a bit beyond the rules of social distancing 😦

That sounds like a BIG project- there has been no mention of concrete for the planned greenhouse- I shall make tentative enquiries! Hope you grow lots of goodies in the lockdown greenhouse.

Hope that’s already in his calculation and not another couple of hundred quids worth he’s forgotten to mention.
I think this is going to be a home for tomato plants. We’re going to put them in various locations around the garden and see how they do. The ones in here should theoretically do best.

Now that is a Proper Scrappy Project! And so great to have something that’s not made of fabric or yarn, and better still, made by a bloke so Mr Snail is no longer our token Mr.
Hurray! More, more!

hello. I’m sure he’ll be dead chuffed you said that. Not sure what his next scrap using project is, but I’ll be sure to post it.

Do, we need a bit of variety and *definitely* more male contributors!

I bet there are plenty out there.

I agree. The trick is to get them to contribute a post!

Definitely. Don’t know about you, but I don’t think I’ve ever had a man comment on my blog in 5 years of blogging. I suspect most of us crafty ladies have a similar experience, so men are highly unlikely to spot Scrap happy let alone post 😦

I get male Likes, but rarely a comment except from Mr Snail, who is, of course, exceptional, and from Mr Conor Bofin who writes beautifully about food and occasionally has something intelligent to say about quilts and scrappy stuff…

Now I do get male likes – will have to work on getting them to ‘speak’ to me 🙂

clever husband, great Easter gift and non-fattening. Are you starting a Victory garden?

I’d not heard of victory gardens – I thought I was simply making a veg garden. Or should I say have been trying to get hubby to help me build one for several years.

If there’s one thing I like, it’s a crafty, clever husband! That looks like a wonderful and quite useful thing he made for the plants.
